The 1st Mindanao Regional Kendo Shinsa (official Kendo grading) happened last Sunday, April 2, 2023! First of all we would like to congratulate all those who earned their kyu and dan grades!

The UKFP BOT has made updates on the health and safety guidelines in response to the current COVID-19 situation. These guidelines are based on the current recommendations put out by various Philippine government agencies, and also based on the experience of practicing kendo over the past year (when practices officially opened).

We are very happy to announce that the UKFP has a new member club, the Tiger Kendo Club (TKC)! They are the first and (currently) only Kendo Club in Central Luzon, based out of Angeles City, Pampanga. TKC is a very motivated group, with lots of plans to help spread and develop Kendo in the Central Luzon region. We are very excited to have them in the UKFP, and we look forward to working with them in the years to come.

Last Saturday, Jan 28, 2023, the La Herencia Davao Compound in Davao City (the home dojo of the Davao Kenyukai Kendo Club) was the host of the inaugural Apo Cup. This is a kendo tournament that pit teams of three in friendly competition against one another. This was also the first UKFP sanctioned tournament since 2019.

The UKFP is now open for membership renewal and new applications for the year 2023! For current UKFP Members (as of 2022), the last day of your membership is on Jan 21, 2023 and you must complete all of your membership requirements to renew your membership for 2023 on or before this date.

The UKFP opens 2023 with the first official tournament since 2019! This tournament is for teams composed of 3 members, and open to all interested kendoka (whether UKFP members or not).

Last November 2022, the UKFP opened elections for the Board of Trustees. Here is the official list of the elected candidates.

The UKFP is proud to announce that we are organizing the first ever official Kendo grading here in the Philippines! Please check the information listed below, or scan the QR Code on the poster.

The UKFP is organizing a series of seminars designed to help participants prepare for the kyu or dan examinations during the 1st Philippine Dan Shinsa in November.

The venue for the month of May 2022 for the Metro Manila Godo Keiko Kai will be at The Upper Deck Basketball Court. This keiko is open to all interested kendoka either based in or visiting Metro Manila. We would love to have keiko with you.

This is an online panel discussion organized by Mr. Kunihiko Sugiyama of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde for his thesis project. It is scheduled for this coming Saturday, April 16, from 2pm onward. The discussion is meant to highlight Kendo as an art, and how it is applicable for Filipinos, especially in modern times.

The UKFP is restarting the Metro Manila Godo Keiko Kai. This is a joint training session where any kendoka either based in or visiting Metro Manila can join in. Sessions are set to resume starting April 10.
