The UKFP has been organizing educational seminars and training camps for Philippine kendoka. In 2020, just before the pandemic, the following activities were organized:

ACTIVITIES

  1. Yagisawa Sensei Special Keiko – A special 2 day keiko with Yagisawa Makoto (8dan kyoshi), a visiting professor of the Nippon Sport Science University (NITTAIDAI).

  2. Regional Kata/Shinsa Seminar – A seminar focusing on improving chances of passing shinsa (promotional exams), and performing kata (choreographed forms). One seminar was held in each geographical region of the Philippines (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao) in order to maximize attendance.

During the pandemic, the UKFP has also organized online seminars on teaching kata. In late 2021, the “Kendo Hajime!” Webinar series was held, which was conceived as an introduction to kendo for those not familiar with the art and as a refresher for those already into the art.
