The 6th PNKT Shinsa Kyu and Dan Grade Official Results
The weekend of the 26th and 27th of October saw the annual Philippine National Kendo Tournament take place in the University of South Eastern Philippines Gymnasium and Cultural Center in Davao City. Kendoka from all over the Philippines as well as visitors from Japan, Malaysia, and Vietnam gather to celebrate two days of competition and grading.

The shinsa was held on the first day of the event with a total of 91 participants. The UKFP offered gradings from 6 Kyu and, for the first time, all the way to 5 Dan. Amidst the atmosphere of anticipation and nerves, many found success with the 3 Dan below category seeing a passing rate of almost 100 percent. The higher 4 Dan and 5 Dan grades saw 2 out of 3 emerge successful at 4 Dan and 1 out of 2 pass at 5 Dan. It is notably a momentous occasion for Kristopher Inting Sensei, who became the Philippines’ first 5 Dan and currently highest-ranked kendoka. Many shared in the joy of this significant event, knowing the arduous journey he has taken to achieve Godan.

To our very own Kristopher Inting sensei and the many who had passed their shinsa, many congratulations to you. For those that have yet to reach their next step, do not be disheartened. Keep working hard, and we will see you at the next UKFP shinsa. Ganbatte!
